Theatre documentary that humorously denounces the reality of the everyday life in Greece.
The extreme right-wing party “Golden Dawn” has the goal to “cleanse” Greece from migrants. The Greek stage directors Anestis Azas and Prodromos Tsinikoris turn this rhetoric against itself and pose the question: Who does the cleaning in this country? In the 1980s these were the migrants from the Philippines, in the 90s from the Balkans and the former East bloc and since 2000 primarily migrants from Asia and Africa. In CLEAN CITY, cleaning staff from the various immigrant generations talk about work where social contrasts collide every day and about solidarity in times of crisis.

Improvisation is a powerful tool in tackling many issues that you will have to confront in your professional as well as day-to-day life. Presentation and public speaking skills, body language, stage presence, creativity, teamwork and tone and voice are just a few aspects that you train in Improvisation. Furthermore, it is a fun and energetic activity that takes you out of your comfort zone, will challenge your own personal boundaries and have you experience other IE members in an environment different from any other on-campus context. In this one hour workshop, we will take you through different fun and dynamic exercises of different fields surrounding improvisation that will make you more confident in your presentation skills and more comfortable in public situations.

The IE Drama Club meets once a week (Wednesdays 7-9:30 pm) to do mainly improvisation, but also theatrical exercises and scene-work. The sessions are always great fun and a welcome escape from the otherwise stressful, academic and professional IE environment. Our members who come from all different backgrounds and programs are able to bring in their own ideas and define for themselves what they want to work on specifically. Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is needed!

The humanities vs. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) - a centuries old debate on which is superior to the other is becoming even more heated today – in academia, in the corporate world, and even in friendly discussions.

Is it possible to marry the two - STEM and Humanities? Should we prioritize an education in STEM over one in Humanities? Are the new degrees, such as Human-Centered Computing and Digital Humanities the futhre?

Ancient history is full of great leaders who have changed the course of events thanks to their qualities as "shepherds of men". But can we measure these men using the parameters of a 21st century leader? In this brief talk we will try to carry out this experiment, and the results can be surprising.

Chris Kenneally lives in Brooklyn, New York. He wrote, directed, and produced the documentary Crazy Legs Conti: Zen and the Art of Competitive Eating. Most recently he wrote and directed the documentary Side by Side which is produced by Keanu Reeves. He is currently in pre-production on a narrative feature about a teenage graffiti artist in Coney Island called Green Dolphin and is developing an episodic series called Chef.

Public Speaking is a combination of good content and good delivery. One of the tools of public speaking which perfectly combines both of these elements is Storytelling. In storytelling the narrative is what helps speakers sustain the attention and interest of the viewer. In this workshop, we focus on how you can use your story narrative to be the best public speaker you can.

IE Public Speaking Club is not only one of the most active professional clubs on campus but is also a supportive network of like minded people with an ambitious mission and vision. A Mission to empower as many people as possible, helping them sky rocket their public speaking skills, overcoming their fears and overall boosting their self-confidence. A Vision to create a huge network of high-level professionals able to deliver terrific speakers in any given context. Our guiding principal to achieve our mission and vision is the "EGOS OUT" policy we follow in our weekly workshops every Tuesday. This is a feedback centric approach which values the importance of feedback as a learning tool. People bring their best when compelled to do so in a constructing way, putting their "EGO" outside the door, being naked and ready to improve.

This session aims to dispel the myth that humanities are of no interest to employers outside of academia. In fact, it could be argued that the perspectives and insights that we obtain through the study of humanities are now more important than ever, even for very STEM or business focused roles. Displaying a humanities-based approach during an interview can help you come across as a well-rounded candidate who is equipped with the necessary skills to face any kind of challenge that may come up in this ever-changing world.

IE FOUNDATION hosts this exclusive guided visit to the exhibition at the Reina Sofía Museum "Lost, Loose and Loved: Foreign Artists in Paris".
This show explores the contribution of foreign artists who, after the Second World War, were working in Paris, a city which still preserved a certain aura surrounding its mythical modern embodiment as a “City of Light” in the 19th century. Paris at that time, rebuilding politically, socially and economically after the war, was trying to revamp the old image of the “School of Paris”, which had always relied upon the contribution of émigré artists for the development of a modern discourse. Paris was seen as a place of freedom, where individual personalities and identities were allowed and encouraged and, equally, measured meticulously according to a form of Cartesian restraint.

The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Esteban Vicente houses the extraordinary collection of works donated by Esteban Vicente (Turégano, 1903 – Long Island, 2001), the only Spanish member of the first generation of the New York School of Abstract Expressionism in America. The exhibition of this Permanent Collection alternates with temporary exhibitions and cultural activities such as lectures, recitals and concerts.

The museum is located in the medieval palace of King Henry IV, of the Trastamara family, whose construction dates back to 1445. In addition to its five exhibition spaces, the visitor can also enjoy its Renaissance chapel with its Hispano-Moorish carved wooden ceiling, currently the auditorium of the museum, and the garden where Harriet and Esteban Vicente’s ashes rest.
