Hi First_Name,

Sustainable Mindset around IE Campus

As you may know, COP25 ( https://www.ifema.es/en/cop25) is here!

This has spiked the interest in the IE Community and many events and activities are going around.

We thought you might like to know about them.

Find about them below,

BUILD A PLASTIC-LESS FUTURE FOR DELIVEROO

Challenge. Innovate. Experiment. Participate in a 3-month innovative competition where you can make a difference: building a plastic-less future for Deliveroo.

The Deliveroo Challenge stems from the good-will of Deliveroo to help their restaurant partners to reduce waste from plastic and paper packaging. The problem is that alternative options are in low supply and the demand is high. Our goal is to help Deliveroo get in contact with existing and upcoming businesses, providing a viable solution to single-use disposable items, aim for the best sustainable solution, producing the least environmental impact, which has a high scaling potential! You and your team will be involved in research, contact and negotiate possible terms for an agreement between Deliveroo and restaurants in the Madrid area. Every team will have a Deliveroo contact, and a range of restaurants to treat at clients. If you are:
- passionate about discovering new exciting market opportunities,
- have good problem-solving skills,
- are a proactive person,
- great team player, and
- you cannot wait to go out there and create a more sustainable future, this is the challenge for you!
Sign up individually or with a team and start building the future of zero-waste food delivery.

How it works?

· Sign up individually or build a team of 4-6 motivated consultants. You'll be assigned a Consulting and Big Data mentors from IE and a Deliveroo mentor to coach you throughout the 3 months

· Crack the case: starting in January, go on the field, visit their office, talk with key actors of Deliveroo, become their expert consultant and come up with the most innovative idea

Sign up here and make it happen ! Please submit your application before 10pm on Thursday, January 19th.

Environmentally displaced people: main challenges in a global climate emergency context

Environmentally displaced people' are those who are impelled or induced to migrate because their livelihoods are rendered unsustainable by proliferating natural disasters or the irreversible degradation of environmental resources resulting from the slow-onset impacts of rising sea levels and desertification. The potential scale of displacement and permanent resettlement related to climate change – estimated at between 50 and 200 million people by 2050, mostly in developing countries – constitutes a significant policy challenge.

IE School of Architecture and Design- “The S Factor: Reinventing Cities of the Future”

Everything we do today affects our world tomorrow. The processes that architects and designers use to understand a current situation, propose ideas for the future, and evaluate them, allows us to understand and measure impacts. The key to sustainability is this holistic understanding of the changes that we will cause and taking actions to reduce the negative impacts while proposing and implementing positive ones.

The event on December 3rd, led by Martha Thorne, Dean of the IE School of Architecture and Design, will include a series of short talks and a Q&A session dealing with the meaning of sustainability as related to the built environment, especially our cities.

Sustainability Focus Group

This upcoming Wednesday, December 4, we are hosting a Sustainability Focus Group.
No prior knowledge of the subject is required. The more diverse group of people we have in regard to knowledge/habits on the topic the better. Snacks will be provided. Please Sign-Up to confirm your attendance.
