Since this pandemic, there has been a lot of material about how Stoic philosophy can help one find solace during these tribulations. In this 60-minute session, with Ibrahim Al-Marashi, visiting professor at IE we will examine how philosophy from ancient Greece and Rome can help us navigate our modern times.

Ibrahim Al-Marashi is Associate Professor of Middle East history at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) and a summer school professor of Conflict Management and Analysis at Charles University, Prague. He obtained his doctorate in Modern History at University of Oxford, completing a thesis on the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, part of which was plagiarized by the British government in the lead up to the 2003 Iraq War, otherwise known as the “Dodgy Dossier.” He is co-author of Iraq’s Armed Forces: An Analytical History (2008), and The Modern History of Iraq (2017), and A Concise History of the Middle East (2018).
