Mr. Lipton will be introduced by Guillermo de la Dehesa (Member of the Executive Committee of Santander and Chairman of IE International Advisory Board).
Mr. David Lipton has held the position of First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund since September 1, 2011. Before coming to the Fund, Mr. Lipton was Special Assistant to President Obama, and served as Senior Director for International Economic Affairs at the National Economic Council and National Security Council at the White House. Previously, Lipton was a Managing Director at Citi, where he was Head of Global Country Risk Management. Prior to joining Citi in May 2005, he spent five years at Moore Capital Management, a global hedge fund. Lipton earned a Ph.D. and M.A. from Harvard University in 1982 and a B.A. from Wesleyan University in 1975.
Mr. Guillermo de la Dehesa is a member of the Executive Committee of Banco Santander. He served as International Advisor to Goldman Sachs from 1988 to 2017. From 1986 to 1988, he held the role of Spanish Secretary of State of Economy and Finance. He is a member of the Group of Thirty, an international body of financiers and academics. He also serves as Chairman of the IE International Advisory Board. He completed his training in law and economics at the Complutense University of Madrid.
