The Campus Life department and the Sustainability Office are delighted to announce that IE’s first-ever edition of Sustainability Week will be held November 23rd-27th.

Under the overarching theme The Big Reset, the event will address
the 3 pillars that constitute the SDGs: Economic, Social, and Environmental inclusion. With change-makers and leaders joining us from all over the world, we will discuss how ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequalities, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

Together, we will leverage our collective ingenuity and forge a future with a common purpose.
Will you join us to accelerate progress for an equal future?

Sustainable Food And Agriculture: Growing More With Less

In this event the Agribusiness Club brings Roberto Vitón, Founder and Managing Director at Valoral Advisors a company specialized in the global food and agriculture investment space.

Sustainable Food & Agriculture: Growing more form less.

By 2050, the world’s population will reach close to 10 billion people and food production will have to increase by 60% compared to 2006 levels to feed this growing population. At the same time, agriculture, forestry and other land uses are accountable for 24% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, we have the huge responsibility of redesigning the way we produce food in order to feed the growing population while taking care of our environment.

The event will cover these topics:

1. Food and Agriculture Industry. How important is this industry in today’s scenario? What is the impact it has in the environment?

2. Regulatory Tailwinds. What is the EU “ Green Deal”? How is the European Union planning to be carbon Neutral by 2050? What are the main pillars of this strategy?

3. Smart and Sustainable Production Systems. How are we planning to produce more food in a more sustainable way? How is technology helping farmers to build more efficient production systems?

4. Impact Investing in the global food and agriculture space. Why impact investments in agriculture are important? Opportunity set of impact investments in agriculture.

Disruptive - LEAP Conference 2020

Worlds clash.
Things fall apart.
Everything is always moving, changing, and transforming—disrupting the course of action of what we once thought was stable. The disruption of things can feel scary, yet it brings a opportunity to build new paradigms, shift perspectives, and create a lasting social change.

Building off of last year’s theme, Discomfort, this year’s edition of the LEAP Conference will embrace the Social SDG Goals under the theme DISRUPTIVE. Leap 2020 is all about addressing the different ways society transforms through time. It’s about disrupting old paradigms in order to create real social change.

Dare to disrupt? 💣

Diversity workshop: Uncovering the invisible culture that binds us all (online)

Learn about how the IE Community with its rich cultural diversity shares more in common than meets the eye!
We invite you to this diversity online workshop, co-hosted with IE Center for Diversity in Global Management, and embedded in the Sustainability Week.
We will talking about Third Culture Kids (TCKs), which refers to anyone who spent a significant part of their childhood/adolescent years living outside of their parents’ home country, and what it means to be a TCK as well as work or study with TCKs. We will explore some of the issues facing today’s TCKs, as this is a vast topic which is receiving increased attention in both academic research and organizational practice. The experience of living within and between different cultures leads to the emergence of the third culture: an invisible culture that is marked by belonging everywhere and nowhere. Despite the difficulties of growing up in different cultural worlds, there are many benefits to be gained! In the workshop, we will share numerous tips for personal and professional success so that each person can learn how to capitalize on the rich diversity of the IE Community.
Workshop outline:
Introduction
What are Third Culture Kids – TCKs ?
Are you one of them? Or do you work or study with them?
The invisible culture that binds us all
What is the third culture and why is it important?
What can we learn from the third culture?
Belonging everywhere and nowhere: identity and sense of belonging.
What can we learn from the third culture?
Despite the difficulties, there are many benefits to be gained!
Tips for personal and professional success
Examples of successful TCKs: we need global leaders to tackle global problems

Ivana Radivojevic is completing her PhD studies in organizational behavior and human resources at IE Business School.
