Details

We bring to IE Global Discussion a remarkable personality in Spanish politics, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba. Spanish politician who was General Secretary of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) from 2012 to 2014, he served in the government of Spain as Minister of Education (1992-93) and as Minister of Homeland Security (2006-11); in addition, he was Vice-President of the Government. He holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid. His job as Minister of Homeland Security helped enormously to the defeat of the terrorist organization ETA in the Basque Country in Spain.

The topic could not be more up-to-date and controversial than the one he will discuss for the first time; Catalonia, and its right to self-determination and to be independent of the rest of Spain.

As always, the format of the event will be the following: 20-min presentation of the topic by the speaker followed by a discussion through a Q&A session. For the first time in our club's history, a cocktail will take place after the event is over so you can chat one-to-one with him in a more informal setting.

The presentation will be in Spanish. The Q&A session and concurrent cocktail will take place in English/Spanish so you can ask and talk to him regardless of the language you speak.

THIS EVENT HAS THE COLLABORATION OF THE GLOBAL TRANSFORMATION CLUB.
