Shiva Roofeh
Morning Session
Shiva is a global trainer, facilitator and consultant working and playing in the topics of Leading by Design and Cultural Intelligence. She was born in Iran, lived in Italy as a refugee, grew up in NYC and has spent the past 12 years living in Spain while working globally. All of these experiences led her to realize that lives can change when our internal monologues change. Balancing accountability, compassion and a bit of attitude, she now works in the spaces of leadership and cultural intelligence that address the inner voice and the one thing we all have ultimate control over – our thoughts.
Julian Isla
Morning Session
Julian is a software engineer with 25 years of experience working on international IT companies. He is also chair and co-founder of Foundation 29, a NPO focused on how artificial intelligence can empower people to make decisions about their own health data-based evidence and automated interpretation systems. Julian is also the Chief Scientific Officer of the European Dravet Syndrome Federation, an European organization of patients with Dravet Syndrome. Julian is the father of Sergio, a young boy six years old who has this condition. Despite not having a medical background he gained the skills to be part of the Orphan Drug Committee at European Medicines Agency (EMA) as patient representative. Julian is also part of the Therapeutic Advisory Group for Eurordis, the largest organization of rare diseases in Europe. In Spain, he is member of the scientific advisory group for Ciberer – Spanish Network for Research on Rare Diseases.
Amélie de Marsily
Morning Session
Amélie is deeply interested in people and leadership. She lives her life guided by curiosity and is attracted to new ventures and exploration of places, projects, and people – with unwavering positivity!
She is currently the Academic Director for IE’s recently created Center for Health, Well-being & Happiness. Prior to joining IE, she worked at Cisco Systems, a global IT and networking company, as a lawyer and then as a business leader, having before that trained and practiced as an avocat in Paris.
Abidin Mohamed
Morning Session
Abidin is a global filmmaker from Western Sahara and a current student at ie university. He attended Li Po Chun UWC in Hong Kong where he obtained the IB diploma, and then started his university journey. He grew up in the Saharawi refugee camps, where he makes most of his films now. ATIL documental is his latest work, directing and producing it along with other filmmakers. He is part of the group that runs Saharawi Voice, a media platform that advocates for human rights.
Nathalie Jacob
Afternoon Session
Nathalie was raised in Colombia, went to high school in France, and later moved to the United States. She is trilingual in English, Spanish, and French. Nathalie studied business administration at the Universidad de los Andes in Colombia and received her master’s in business administration from IE Business School in Spain. She spent ten years working in high-level marketing jobs for Fortune 500 companies in five different countries. In her spare time, she enjoyed sailing and won several national championships. The aftereffects of a brain surgery left Nathalie disabled and unable to work. She has discovered her new passion by helping others, creating community, voluntary work and became an Author. She is now focusing on being the best mother she can be to her daughter, Nicole and inspiring people around the world with her story.
Eun Suk Hong
Afternoon Session
Eun Suk, MBA and MBD dual degree student at IE, is an ex-DACA recipient from the United States of America. The latter is determined to achieve his success by creating his path despite the overwhelming odds stacked against him. Before moving to Madrid, Spain, Eun Suk worked as a financial planner, IT project manager, and non-profit lobbyist to advocate for undocumented immigrants’ human rights. Being the first of his family to live in the United States, his circumstances of being an undocumented altered his path to pursue yet another milestone to become the first to live in Europe and to obtain two Masters degrees without any possibilities of going back to his home for the next ten years
Ibrahim Al-Marashi
Afternoon Session
Ibrahim is a visiting professor at the School of Global & Public Affairs IE University in Madrid, Spain and an associate professor at California State University San Marcos. He obtained his doctorate from the University of Oxford, completing a thesis on the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, part of which was plagiarized by the British government in the lead up to the 2003 Iraq War, otherwise known as the “Dodgy Dossier.” His current research focuses on modern Iraqi history, as well as the history of pandemics.
David Bernardo
Afternoon Session
Currently, David is the CEO of LITS (Life is too Short) which operates in Latin America and Europe, focusing not only on the business but also on the physical, emotional, and spiritual transformation of teams, and working today with brands such as Amazon, Walmart, Scotiabank, and L’Oreal. On the personal side, he is passionate about extreme sports, and is a strong believer in cultivating one’s spirituality. Besides being a CEO, he frequently enjoys exploring remote villages all around the world in solo adventures confronting adversity within himself and his surroundings in the wilderness, while visiting different rural and unpopular areas of Asia and Latin America. Among his accolades, he was twice on the top 40 managers under 40 in Portugal, young entrepreneurs award, Top innovators in Mexico by entrepreneur magazine, and one of the top experts in digital in Latin America by Forbes magazine. He gives over 30 conferences per year worldwide and collaborates with several media outlets. For the past 20 years, David has lived in 10 different countries and is fluent in 5 languages. Mexico City is his base but he travels forty percent of the year.
