Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Joël worked in the financial sector before joining IE Business School’s MBA program. In fact, he had such a good time in the MBA that he decided to stay, joining the institution first as the Director of Financial Aid before he moved to our International Development Department, where he led the Asia Pacific team. Today he’s responsible for the Europe and Central Asia team, and personally stewards IE’s activities in the Nordic countries. In addition to his degrees from IE Business School, he’s also a graduate of both the Judge School at the University of Cambridge, and is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Degree at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. And, he’s fluently trilingual.

Carla Szemzo has more than 10 years of professional experience in communications, marketing/sales, and business development. She has lived in New York, Buenos Aires, Caracas and Madrid. Carla is part of the faculty at IE´s Master in Talent Development and Human Resources. She is also Thesis advisor at IE´s Bachelor in Communication. She has worked in top international communications consulting firms, such as Burson-Marsteller and Pizzolante Strategic Communications, for clients including: Netflix, Unilever, Diageo, Shell, LG Electronics, Pepsi, Phillip Morris, Bosch, Hewlett-Packard, among others. She is currently Head of B2C at IE´s International Development Department. Carla studied a Bachelor in Communications at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (Caracas, Venezuela) and later did the Master in Management at IE Business School.
