As we look forward to expressing our gratitude and appreciation to all the amazing women in our IE community that have left and will continue to leave a footprint in our world, we invite you to join us and help us make the women of past proud, the women of current inspired, and the women of the future envisioned.

We are excited to welcome alumni, professors, students and friends of IE on our campus on 8 March, to celebrate women who make a difference, and take you to a journey that represents an extraordinary opportunity to highlight and showcase the accomplished and talented female members of our IE Family.

Agenda

  • 13.30h-13.45h: Julia Sanchez, Head of IE Global Alumni Relations will introduce EPIC. EPIC stands for Extraordinary People Inspiring the IE Community.
  • 13.45h-14.30h: Followed by an interview with Fernando Barnuevo, President of IE Alumni Association and Veronica Pascual, an IE alumni, AMP 2007 and EXMPLS 2015. CEO of Asti, Veronica will share with us the details of one the projects she is leading STEM Talent Girl .A mentoring project designed to ensure the development of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

“Verónica Pascual Boé, ASTI TechGroup CEO, is Aerospace Engineer by Madrid Polytechnic University, MBA by CDI (Paris) and Exec. Master in Positive Leadership & Strategy. She speaks 5 languages and has been leaving in 6 countries.

ASTI Mobile Robotics is an international Engineering Firm that designs, manufactures, implements and maintains driverless vehicle systems (AGVs - automatic guided vehicles) for the automation of internal logistics processes and production in the manufacturing industry. European leader in 2015 and 2016 according to the ranking published by the University of Hannover. Fernando Barnuevo Sebastián de Erice is Managing Partner and Founder of Big Blue Holding, a privately owned Real Estate Investment Group, invested in Spain and the US
( www.bigblueholding.com ). He is also a Senior Advisor to Perella Weinberg Partners, a leading US Independent Investment Bank.

Mr Barnuevo worked at JPMorgan (1986-2005) where he has been member of the firm’s Global Financial Institutions Management Committee in New York and President of Leadership JPMorgan/Chase, the firm’s global leadership initiative. He was a Partner at Integrated Finance Limited (IFL, 2005 to 2009), and a Managing Partner at Kleinwort Benson Advisers (2009 to 2014). IFL was a specialized investment banking firm focused on asset management and advisory founded by senior executives of JPMorgan and Robert Merton (Economic Sciences Nobel Laureate in 1997). Kleinwort Benson is a UK Private Bank.

Mr. Barnuevo spent nearly two decades at JPMorgan in a wide range of capital markets,
corporate finance, M&A and emerging markets management roles. He served as Group Head and Senior Client Executive as part of the firm’s Financial Institutions Management Committee. He had global responsibility over JPMorgan’s FIG/Investor Client Management, one of the Investment Bank’s largest client businesses.

The main focus during his working career has been on investment banking, asset management, private banking and operations. In 1990 Mr. Barnuevo relocated to Buenos Aires and São Paulo, where he was responsible for setting up JPMorgan’s Latin America securities business. He moved to the USA in 1992 where he worked in the New York and San Francisco’s offices until 2005. He spent 4 years (1994-1998) as head of the international equity sales and trading desks in the West Coast. Upon his return from California, he joined the Equity Management Committee in NY and in 2000, the Financial Institutions Group Global Management Committee. During his career at JPMorgan, he was also a member of the European Operations Management team, US head of International Equities, and member of the European Equities Management
Committee.

Mr. Barnuevo serves as Chairman of IE Fund and is President of IE Global Alumni. He is member of Caixabank Private Bank Advisory Board. IE is one of Europe’s leading business schools. Born in Madrid in 1962, Mr. Barnuevo is a Law Degree graduate from the Universidad Complutense and has an International MBA from IE (Instituto de Empresa). He is married to Gloria Ybarra and has five children. He holds US and Spanish citizenships, and resides primarily in the US.
