A light in dark places: social innovation
Registration
Details
Addressing ourselves to social issues requires us to keep those affected constantly at the heart of our work. They provide a focussing lens for all of our questions which, progressively asked, may lead us down the path of real, substantive solutions. In other contexts, innovation is a constant pressure: operating organizations face the rapidly, quantitatively and qualitatively increasing challenge of external disruption, new ideas face the overwhelmingly poor odds of entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial success, and every one of us face the constant struggle to grow towards our light without the aid of trellace or scaffolding, and every one of these struggles depends on a fundamental activity: making contact with the distant worlds which are every other person we ever encounter. The tools and practices often used in innovation processes are typically concerned with focusing the very lens which social issues have at their heart: asking what we can do with what we learn of the people who we are trying to serve. Join us for a workshop which will work on some of those tools in practice, and consider how each participant may use them in their own work and life.
